Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Bob P — 18 Jan 2013
I absolutely love this movie! It's definitely one of my all time faverotes and and like Donnie Darko, Pulp fiction, Jay and silent Bob and American Pie 2 last summer wouldn't have been what it was. I brought this with donnie Darko in a second hand DVD shop my mum suggested those two movies. I hadn't heard much of dusk till dawn. But yet I thought I'd watch them both because all my mothers suggestions are always sond ngl.
AND IT BLEW MY FUCKING MIND!
From dusk till dawn in a lot of ways is very similar to batman beguins. While you might ask how I can relate a horror/crime to a super hero movie. Well the answer to that is perfectly simple. They both fealt like they were two story's slapped together. Which could either go really well or... Really fucking terrible. But in this it worked completely how it wanted to. It started off as two brothers trying to cross the Mexican border to reach a mystery place called el ray. Which we can only assume is sanctuary for these two fujatives and of course. On the way they did haveto hold some hostages and of course the hostages aventually died of liquor and bullets, them a bit of pop corn, or rape. But when they find a small family that stopped in A motel. Richard gecko (quentin Tarantino) manages not to rape or murder anyone then what happens after that. IS what makes from dusk till dawn one of my all time faverotes. Like Darko it has a whole new genre added to it and the action got more brutal and fantasy esc.
My faverote characters where Seth and Richard gecko. Now they just own this movie. Richard had a really disturbing view which really added because the fact that his thoughts against women and the people around him besides his brother Seth. (George Clooney) were so like twisted and vile I'm ngl I think it's good cinema.
Now Seth gecko oh my lord. I think this movie probably saved George Clooney from getting shot or stabbed after batman & robin. Because his performance and character was just really easy to get involved in. I think this is probably the only time where hero and villain go hand in hand in a film. You could tell that he wanted to keep in control of his brother and Harvey keitel and his family. (Who were also an amazing supporting cast) along with 'sex machine' who had a cock revolver (watch to. Find out wtf I'm on about) and for all these reasons From Dusk Till Dawn gets grade:
A+.
'IF he touches her il kill him'-Jacob Fuller.
'Hmmm you brake you're word. Il kill you fucking all'- Seth Gecko.
