Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Maxwell D — 08 May 2016
Even though it's entertaining in its own right, you can't help but feel like it's a missed opportunity.
You have a fantastic film, worthy of being in the same league as Pulp Fiction, up until the first appearance of a vampire, then it becomes disappointing. The campy/horror/vampire filled third act, which is fun don't get me wrong, just isn't worthy of the very rich set up. In other words, the first two acts of the film are just too good for the campy B movie horror that was the main intent of From Dusk Till Dawn.
With that in mind, I will still recommend the film... but if you're going into it without any knowledge of its intent or the supernatural twist, you will definitely feel robbed of the film that could have been.
