Review of From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) by Brett H — 07 Dec 2014
A cult classic from the brilliant minds of Tarantino and Rodriguez long before they ever collaborated on Grindhouse, and it is a bloody blast! The cast is excellent with Tarantino himself playing a psycho criminal and Harvey Keitel playing against-type, but George Clooney's, Seth Gecko is cool-as-ice and one of the most quotable anti-heroes in film history! The less you know about the story the better, though I will admit that I find the first half more enjoyable than the second because of the brilliant dialogue and tension.
Once the film switches gears, it becomes very over-the-top and ridiculous, but there are many cool and memorable moments from this segment and Tom Savini's special effects are terrific as well. It's a total guy-movie that's a complete riot if you don't take it too seriously; Cheech Marin plays three different characters for heaven's sake!
