Review of From Beyond the Grave (1974) by Nick D — 08 Sep 2007
I see Ian Brown has only given this film four stars, but one look at his favourites will tell you all you need to know about his priorities. This and Tales from the Crypt are the jewels in the Amicus crown. FBTG ends on a sour note with its Ian Ogilvy misfire, but more than makes up for it with the remaining tales, particularly An Act of Kindness, which is worth the price of admission in itself. The framing story is also excellent, with Cushing taking a zero-tolerance approach to petty crime like Judge Dredd in a flat cap. Still shamefully unavailable on DVD.
BUT WAIT! Due for release in the UK on 15th October 2007! Order early, order often.
