Review of From Beyond the Grave (1974) by Alex R — 18 Oct 2007
This is the best of the Amicus port manteau movies. An excellent framing device with the great Peter Cushing, 2 excellent stories, 1 ok and 1 stinker.
The Elemental is poor, although Madame Orloff is a great character. The 1st story with David Warner is pretty good, shades of Hellraiser?
Best by far is either the very spooky The Door with Ian Ogilvy, creeped me out as a kid and is still unerving today.
Also really liked the story with Donald Pleasance and real life daughter.
Overall an excellent example of its kind, stands up well 30 years later.
