Review of From Beyond (1986) by Heath H — 10 Nov 2007
Wow! Before 'Dagon', Stuart Gordon was a genius. 'From Beyond' isn't quite as good as 'Re-Animator', but it's a close second. The creatures in the film look like they came from 'The Thing', and that's a huge complement from a massive 'Thing' fan.
Jeffrey Combs is excellent as always, and Ken Foree from the original 'Dawn of the Dead' makes a great appearance in a supporting role. Not as gory and gruesome as 'Re-Animator', but it does have a good measure of it (it's Stuart Gorden people!).
Based upon the short story by H.P. Lovecraft.
