Just watched this again after many years ... and it is still fairly outrageous. The effects have not all aged as well as, say, Rob Bottin's groundbreaking work in Carpenter's _The Thing_ (upon which some of the stuff here seems to have been modeled), but some of it is still pretty jaw-droppingly gooey.
Jeffrey Combs is always fun to watch.
