Review of From Beyond (1986) by Jesse W — 17 May 2008
This is really only useful to people who like Re-Animator and want to see another film with a similar style, same actors, and low budget interpretation of H.P. Lovecraft. The film isn't stupid but there is little brains (except for those onscreen!), it is rather short, and is virtually scare-less.
The SFX are cool, actors Ken Foree and Jeffrey Combs are great (usually in a so bad it's good kind of way), the score by Bernard Hermann (not Richard Band's homage to him) sounds good. It's just a fun, whacky, gory film with monsters from another dimension and a lighting style similar to that of Argento.
Watch out for some creatively nasty violence!
