Review of From Beyond (1986) by Jacob F — 22 Jun 2009
This is a top-drawer Lovecraft adaptation, with a psychological, Freudian reading of the original story. Combs is great, and the story rattles along with a generous helping of gore, special effects and nudity. Gordon once again fills the film (like his previous Lovecraft adaptation, ReAnimator) with great humour, and the film never takes itself too seriously. The best moments are when Combes' character spouts his pineal gland (3rd eye) from his forehead and finds a brain to eat.
Great Saturday night fun, recommended to Lovecraft fans.
