Review of From Beyond (1986) by Tamatai N — 29 Dec 2009
Based on H.P. Lovecraft's short story of the same name, this film really puts new meaning into "prying open your third eye". It seems that no film-maker has yet to harness the brilliant and grotesque imagination of Mr.
Lovecraft with his visions of unimaginable, insanity-inducing terror and unbearable dread of the unknown. Although this film uses the story's ideas to good effect, it feels like it falls just short of the mark of being something amazing.
Let's just hope Guellermo Del Toro finally gets his adaptation of Lovecraft's 'From the Mountains of Madness' off the ground so he can show people how it's really done!
