Review of From Beyond (1986) by Will G — 08 Feb 2013
Bringing a Lovecraft story to film is an arduous task, but From Beyond reproduces the Lovecraftian ultra-dimensional, tentacle-wielding entities ever so poignant in stories such as "From Beyond" and "The Colour Out of Space".
This is a faithful adaptation of one of Lovecraft's lesser-known tales, though for what it's worth, it still remains one of the weirdest surreal-horror films ever made, which is hardly surprising, being that Lovecraft wrote "weird fiction" after all.
Tentacles, mad scientists, otherworldly perceptions and putrefied flesh... nothing short of a Lovecraftian masterpiece.
