Review of From Beijing with Love (1994) by Warren C — 13 Feb 2008
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST OF STEPHEN CHOW. I rarely think big enough of Stephen Chow nor HK cinema. I've watched over 20 of his movies, and I never thought his movie could be this great. VERY ENJOYABLE, not exactly too screwball alike. It's rather different from the rest of his movies, there's more seriousness, less jokes. It adds a great deal to romance and tension. Anita Yuen is simply awesome as usual. Again, she shows strong performance. The cinematography is commendable.
This movie, especially touching(thanks to that song). Don't think of it as a HK B-movie nor a James Bond parody. I RECOMMEND YOU ALL WATCH IT BEFORE YOU DIE.
P.S.: If you enjoyed it, you might also want to check out Anita Yuen's He's a Woman, She's a Man, Stephen Chow's Fight Back to School III, and maybe, Sir Connery's From Russia With Love, lol.
