Review of Fright Night (2011) by Mei-Lu M — 21 Apr 2012
This movie really surprised me. I rented it because I wanted to test out my new 3D TV and David Tenant is in it. I was not expecting it to be this good! It's smart, funny and fast-paced - along the same lines as Zombieland though nowhere near as meta or sharp.
The performances are uniformly great. If you're a fan of Buffy, it definitely has a Buffyish feel - probably because Marti Noxon (who was head writer in the last years of Buffy) wrote the script. Another winning surprise from director Craig Gillespie.
(Whose film Lars and the Real Girl was one of my favorites from the year it was released.).
