Well, there are lots of "wasn'ts" about this film. It wasn't nearly as good as the original. It wasn't that inspired a "reimagining." And... it wasn't as bad as I feared it would be.
A friend described it thusly: "Chekov and Doctor Who against Dracula -- what's not to like?" A lot, actually, but disengage your brain and give "Fright Night" a chance. You might have fun in spite of yourself.
