Review of Fright Night (2011) by Mark B — 09 Jul 2012
It's not fair to call Fright Night a remake of the 80s movie of the same namesake. Sure, Fright Night has some creepy vampire CG effects. Sure, the cast is good. Sure, Colon Farrell is a convincing vampire.
All of that taken into consideration, the movie falls flat as both a horror or a dark comedy. The story of the new vampire next door floats along at an awkward pace and wraps up too quickly. There are some throwback homages to the original, but this Fright Night plays out like a completely different film.
I would recommend this to fans of the horror or vampire genre as a space-filler between better movies. For a good Fright Night, watch the original.
