The original Fright Night was a frivolous horror-comedy and the remake is just the same. Importantly it doesn't just tread the same ground as the 1985 film, it does of course bare a resemblance but the palette is much richer and the production is a bit more ambitious.
Fright Night 2011 never threatens to challenge Evil Dead 2 or Shaun of the Dead for the top spot in horror-comedy but it's a perfectly acceptable remake, which in itself is a bit of a rarity.
