Review of Fright Night (2011) by Mike C — 01 Nov 2013
Fright Night is a darkly entertaining movie with memorable performances from it's awesome cast, especially David Tennant as the alcoholic magician Peter Vincent. Colin Farrell plays it cool and casual as he turns dark and evil for his most entertaining role since In Bruges! Imogen Poots is gorgeous and actually plays a fun part in this, she doesn't just prance around screaming like most girls in horror films.
As for Anton Yelchin, he's brilliant, a very proactive and determined hero, he's good in any film whether he's speaking Russian in Star Trek or defending himself from machines in Terminator Salvation.
Fright Night is a fun horror with a lot of comedy, and is bound to make you jump numerous times. It's entertaining and has a bloody good cast, although it's 3D is a flop due to the darkness and although it does deliver well timed pop out effects, there's nothing worse than shrouding darkness, you could call it "3D-ocre", but the effect doesn't ruin the movie as the cast are spectacular, all of them more than make up for the 3D.
