Review of Fright Night (2011) by Francisco R — 21 May 2012
Fright Night is a great way to spend the time, but still not a great movie. But we sure have a great performance delivered by Colin arrell, who played one of the best vampires of the decade, we also have a good quantity of staisfying scares and a nice quantity of laughs and fun. Fright Night has a great premise, wich is like a sort of premise 'vampire next door' and instead of being fully scary, they kind of add a bit of comedy to it, wich made it more pleasant, like in Scream. But, well, Fright Night is flawed, sometimes it can get stupid and I really don't understand why towards the ending, all the characters were saying f*ck and sh*t, it really made me feel like taking the R away. But well, forget Twilight that sucks as a vampire movie and a movie and watch Fright Night, that will leave you much more staisfied than the quantity of satisfaction that you'd get from the whole Twilgiht saga, besides, Fright Night had a funny reference to Twilight where Mintz-Plasse's character says his mad because Yelchin's character said he thought he already read Twilight books. Overall, a good scare, great acting, a great premise and laughs and scares and fun make Fright Night a recommended movie and I had a great time watching, altough I didn't love, but whatever, I recommend it, it got me. By the way, I loved the details they add to the vampire character, first of all they gave him the name Jerry, wich is commented lots of times during the movie and second of all, I found funny Jerry's interest for green apples, they had a great way to create a vampire and I also noticed Yelchin's performance, he was finally great, I always hated his characters and performances, he was always annoying, especially at The Beaver, but, well, in Fright Night, he finally satisfied me with a superb performance, wich surprases those teen performances by people who don't know how to act... including Pattinson, wich altough has talent, sucks at Twilight.
6.5/10.
