Review of Fright Night (1985) by Greg B — 25 Nov 2010
Many people may shortchange it, but this is one of the best horror-comedy films there is. It's not ambitious like Bigelow's indie vampire/modern western NEAR DARK, but its probably more consistent than Schumacher's neon-drenched THE LOST BOYS.
Take one part Rear Window and add in a late night horror movie host who plays like a down-on-his-luck, low-rent version of Peter Cushing from the Hammer Horror vampire films and you get pure 80s popcorn movie gold.
