Review of Friends with Kids (2012) by Dilhara A — 21 Jul 2012
ARGGGG! Nothing more frustrating than a movie with a genuine shot at greatness only to get too many details wrong and fall into the vast sea of mediocrity. If Westfeldt spent less script time being cute and more time being sincere, she may have made a true classic.
THere are some very moving scenes in this flick, but they are often undermined by sophomric laughs that don't fit. And, sadly, I have to ask, are we really at the point in cinematic history when our big romantic scenes need lines like "just f*** the s*** out of me"? Is this the Harry Met Sally for a new generation? If so, that's tragic.
