Review of Friends of God: A Road Trip with Alexandra Pelosi (2007) by Susan P — 15 Aug 2009
Creepy - a good companion to Jesus Camp, but isn't as tightly executed. They both feature Ted Haggard, Evangelical church leader who was caught in a meth and prostitution scandal. Now I know that Christian Pro-Wrestling exists, but I didn't get a whole lot more insight into these people.
Not sure that I want to. I don't understand how anyone can ignore overwhelming scientific evidence of the world being many millions of years old, not 6 thousand. It's offensive to me. Especially when they try to put it in public schools.
The toughest part of this documentary is Jerry Falwell's ghost writer, who is a gay man shunned by his own church. He still goes to see what his enemies are saying about him, and openly cries in the church.
Such a sad and messed up moment. I'm pretty sure if Jesus were to show up he would not approve of hating people, or for ignoring the existence of carbon dating.
