Review of Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) by Ryan G — 22 Mar 2011
A classic old tale of southern charm and hospitality. It does hit some high marks (Mary Stuart Masterson's strength and courage steals the screen), but it lacks a direct and powerful narrative. Too often, it leaves the audience disorientated as the screenwriters try to weave too many stories seemingly without a plot.
The ending, stretching too far in its own escapism way, gives the audience some comfort and closure. Solid.
