Review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) by Troy F — 17 Feb 2014
The Fourth Chapter of the Friday The 13th series is a slighter improvement, but nothing will ever change the dumb, mindless killing and gore that it sets for. However, it has a bit of novelty. For one, it's not like you've got stupid teens who are ignoring myths of Jason and camping out exactly right by where other murders occured.
Here, we've got a family that lives out in the woods and a cabin where a bunch of kids rent out for a summer gig. None of these places are on the campsite, yet Jason's fixation on killing around here proves that it's not just counselors he wants to kill, it's just about anyone in the area now.
It seems less stupider this way. The teenage characters are the same lovey dovey sex, skinny dipping, dopey characters. However, we've got Crispin Glover and Corey Feldman in this film, so that adds a bit! And there's some pretty neat kills and shots here.
Better than 2 I'd say, and much better than 3. Overall, it's still redundant as always, but this one is a bit of a step up. I enjoyed it and had some good laughs and scares.
