Review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) by Daniel P — 21 May 2010
Crispin Glover's dance sequence alone is worth five stars, but the rest of the movie is much the same as has come before. Corey Feldman's Tommy character feels horribly underdeveloped - but will continue in two subsequent instalments (albeit by two different actors) - but at least the horny teens actually have some kind of substance to them this time around and *occasionally* display some intelligence and self-awareness.
The kills are not without some technical merit but lack intensity (though some of the slo-mo sequences are pretty cool) and there's nothing special about the writing. That this is one of the best entries in the franchise speaks volumes about the quality.
