Review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) by Drew S — 27 Apr 2011
A robust body count, Crispin Glover's sheer ridiculousness, and a neat final kill (though sadly buoyed by a ridiculous plot point) bring a little bit of much-needed life to this otherwise average slasher.
It doesn't lack for energy, I'll say as much as that, but there's not all that much going on underneath the surface - Friday the 13th has always been the most shallow of the big horror franchises of the era, and this film makes no attempts at reparation.
Disposable, unpretentious, good-natured popcorn entertainment and little else.
