Review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) by Nathan E — 23 Jun 2010

Cor blimey this was bad. First off this 'final chapter' was nothing of the sort, perhaps they'll attempt to explain away the fact that after THAT death Jason still managed to go about doing his thing in 6 more films!!! (okay well that includes the reboot, perhaps that doesn't count).

In a way it is difficult to say much about a film like this because it is clearly inept but it doesn't appear to be trying to do anything else other than build a body count. There is no mounting of tension and for every actual kill there must be an equal number of false scares, which grow tedious very quickly.

The characters by now are horribly bland. There is one couple who appear to actually share more than just a superficial attachment, however the situation is developed in such a cack-handed way that when the girl finds the boy dead I really couldn't have cared less and was frankly quite relieved when her number came up.

One reason that the first Halloween was so great was that we cared about Laurie. This is one notch above pornography.
