Review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) by Leslie D — 04 May 2011
The best of the series (which isn't saying much.) Savini returns in order to KILL Jason. And that they do. The ending is particularly rewarding and Jason is extremely pissed off in this entry. Also, the script and cinematography don't let up.
It's suspenseful right up until the end. It's a huge improvement from part 3. The tone is more serious and they give a half-attempt in making the teenagers likable. Essentially, this is a good example of the typical teen slasher film done relatively correctly.
Cory Feldman also appears for the first time (not a bad performance) where he plays almost a young version of Tom Savini. Fitting that he kills Jason, since that's the only reason Savini agreed to do the film.
