Review of Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) by Tommy G — 09 Mar 2009
After being burned in a fiery explosion and being pulled back into the bottom of the lake, Jason is resurrected by electricity to continue his murderous ways. 'Jason Takes Manhattan' brings the tried and true formula to a different locale with mixed results.
While the death scenes were innovative, the story was filled with cookie cutter characters and skimped on the Manhattan portion of the film. It's hard not to laugh at the 'â??climatic' finale.
This one was on par with 'The New Blood' for me. I wasn't totally bored, but I found myself longing for what once was an entertaining series. The 'superstar' to be found in 'Part VII' is Kelly Hu in her film debut.
