Review of Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) by Darwin K — 28 Oct 2011
A more apt title would be "Jason Takes a Boat Ride". If you are going to call it "Jason Takes Manhattan" than just make it a movie in which he kills people at famous Manhattan landmarks, not just have a guy killing random folks on a boat before getting to New York in which we only see a dock (which is a set), a back alley (also a set), the subway (another set), and then the sewers (hey its a set), and then one scene in Time's Square (I would say location but its probably just a really good set).
The cast is lame, as is the premise, the kills, the suspense...the originality and creativity of this movie is severely lacking. While it never reaches the ridiculous heights of Jason Goes to Hell or Jason X, the Frankenstein-esque electrocution back to life at the beginning was way to silly.
