Review of Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) by Ken C — 22 Oct 2010
This movie is not a horror movie it's a superhero movie, and I friggin love it.
I think that in this movie Jason has finally learned that going around killing high schoolers and teachers gets kind of boring. So he goes to Manhattan to turn his life around but to get their he first has to take a love board cruise filled with annoying but seductive high school students and a expressionless teacher who I think is the second best character in the movie. For some reason however the high school girls and Professor Emotionless aren't that welcoming to heavy weight, lumbering zombies wearing hockey masks so Jason just goes around aggressively killing everyone. But like I said before, Jason's the good guy in this one so he doesn't just machete random people to death no, theirs one scene where a girl's on the boat about to get raped and then Jason comes along and helps the girl out by killing the rapists and rescuing her and then killing her, good old Jason. It kinda sucks that Jason is only in Manhattan for only a few minutes at the end and spends most of his vacation on the cruise. So why couldn't they just call the movie "Friday The 13th's Cruise Ship Vacation" and then at the end have Jason find out that the theme park that he was planing on going to was closed? I think that actually would of given this movie a higher rating.
Many people consider this to be the worst or at least one of the worst Friday The 13th Movies, but I think that it's fun to watch only for Jason and the expressionless teacher. Just don't expect to see much of Manhattan in this.
