Review of Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) by Luc L — 29 Aug 2012
This is actually one of the best directed movies of the series but it is the director's script is a let-down with a couple of plot holes and the premise doesn't quite work. But it is still fun for some of the "Friday" fans and some non-fans might like this.
Since it is less gory of the series. Hodder does a good job playing "Jason", which Hodder is certainly the best "Jason" out-there. Probably the only one, who took the "Jason" part seriously.
This is one also has a pretty like cast, the stand-out is the mean-spirited high school principal (Peter Mark Richman). Director Hedden does have some nice visual moments in the movie. Although his original script had more time in New York than the actually film did.
The title is mis-leading to say the least. The fans always had mixed feelings about this movie but I think, this sequel does play better with age.
