Review of Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) by Kilian K — 25 Aug 2017
Jason's two death scenes are pretty great, Kane Hodder as Jason does better than he did in his last installment (New Blood), and our two main leads (Jansen Daggett as Renny and Scott Reaves as Sean) are likable enough. Unfortunately, the film doesn't get to Manhattan until close to the last 35 minutes, the majority of the film takes place on a pleasure cruise for a guaduating HS class which Jason hitches a ride on when it sets sail from Crystal Lake. It's a B film that isn;t aware it's a B film. Not really that good, but still stronger than other installments. I found it to be a painless, fun (if not long) watch.
Fun fact: This was the first Jason film I saw when I was growing up.
