Review of Friday the 13th Part VII - The New Blood (1988) by Ivan D — 02 Sep 2009
The script was originally written to team-up Jason and Freddy. but when negotiations failed to bring the two horror icons together it was hastily rewritten to substitute Carrie for Freddy. Not that Lar Park Lincoln's character is named Carrie she's just a teenager with telekinesis so it's easy to get the two confused.
Once again the film suffers from edits required to obtain a R rating. With little gore and less suspense the film limps from one scene to the next until the inevitable final confrontation. The film is notable for two things.
One it is the first time Kane Hodder portrayed Jason. A role he would reprise in the next two films. The second is the horrendous '80's wardrobe. The movie features more shoulder pads than "The Longest Yard"!
