Review of Friday the 13th Part VII - The New Blood (1988) by Anubiss D — 01 Feb 2010
It's not fair, it's really not fair. I finally see an entry in the Friday the 13th franchise that gives me hope for the following films, and then they screw it all up again in the next film. In Jason Lives I enjoyed the dark humour that the film had to offer, and how it didn't need accessive gore or nudity to sell the film, but this film pretty much says "SCREW THAT" and pumps it back up again.
The plot in this is awful, the acting has gone back to bad again and it doesn't distinguish itself at all from any other 80's slasher film out. The film suffers most because it tries so hard to be a serious horror film, but it adds a science fiction/fantasy element to it which doesn't fit at all.
The only thing I liked once again was Jason and all the rubbish he was put through towards the end, but it wasn't worth watching the whole film for.
