Review of Friday the 13th Part VII - The New Blood (1988) by Robert H — 16 Sep 2010

Jason is back... of course. And yes he goes about killing everyone in the film. I think this is either my second or third least fave of the series. The kills (short of the sleeping bag kill) aren't very good. This is a bad thing when it comes to a film about a psychopathic killer back from the dead. Sure you get some nudity but does it make up for the rest of the film? I don't think so. Though the telepathy wasn't exactly expected, it wasn't exactly good either. It felt like a silly cop out in order to bring Jason back.

But despite all that, what I disliked the most about the film was the fact that not only did Jason seem to do things quicker than usual, but he had a sense of humanity to him and felt as if he was actually thinking rather than being the mindless killing machine he should be by this point in the series. Add to that the goofy look of his face once his mask is removed and I was sold on just how disappointed I was with this piece of the series.
