Review of Friday the 13th Part III (1982) by Ethan B — 19 Mar 2013

"Friday the 13th part 3" is better than "Part 2" in some ways, but in others, it's the worse of the series up to now. The story is completely non-existent this time, with characters placed at the "Crystal Lake" Campground just so they can be slaughtered.

There's barely a reason for them to be there. At least these characters are entertaining, so their deaths have a greater emotional impact (which is good), but it's largely without any genuine scares.

It's saving grace is the 3D, which is the most cheesy, shoehorned, stereotypically bad 3D you will ever see, and that bumps the movie into "So bad it's good again" territory faster than a machete through a horny teenager.

You get yo-yos, juggling, blood flying at the screen, eyeballs coming towards the screen and the credits are so ridiculously cheesy you can't help but be entertained. As a horror film, it's completely inept but as a fun movie with a lot of dead teenagers, and especially in 3D there's a lot of entertainment to be had at the movie's expense so if you're a fan of the series (which is not a serious of good horror movies, it's just bad gory fun) this will be quite entertaining.
