Review of Friday the 13th Part III (1982) by Luke P — 14 Nov 2008
Aka the one in 3D, or the one where Jason finds the now-famous hockey mask. These are the two notable factors that mark this sequel out from the rest. Again, a bunch of teenagers archetypes (the sex-mad couple, the stoner pair, the fat annoying practical designer) travel to the bloodstained site of the former Camp Crystal Lake for a vacation, where of course all hell breaks loose and the teens are picked off one by one, in ways involving machetes, axes, arrows and various other sharp things.
It's very formulaic and samey, but there are some well-made moments, particularly the opening sequence which is quite tense, and so it stands out as one of the better sequels in the Friday the 13th series.
Plus, there's a bit where a guy's eyeball gets popped out of his head.
