Review of Friday the 13th Part III (1982) by Wade C — 12 Feb 2009
After surviving a machete hit to the shoulder in Part II, Jason escapes, gains a lot of weight, loses his hillbilly hair and beard, and decides to go 3D. I was only a year old when this sucker came out, so I missed out on the 3D theatrical run.
Therefore, all I've ever known of this film is in it's 2D version, which actually turns out to be quite hilarious. Who can not love a film that offers a 3D shot of some Chong look-a-like extending a giant joint to the audience.
Of course, Jason gets his trademark hockey mask in this outting, courtesy of Shelly the Prankster. And he subsequently gets an axe to the head, giving him his trademark axe cut in his trademark hockey mask.
This is the first of the series that truly gives us the Jason we all know and love. Just forget the fact that the acting is horrible and the story has more holes than in Jason's hockey mask.
