Review of Friday the 13th Part III (1982) by Keith M — 12 Oct 2010
Remember my fellow critic fans, no matter how much you like a film you have to look at it as both professional and audience. Friday the 13th 3 was excellent for many reasons. In short, the use of 3-D was a complete gimmick that happened to work and though obviously through the use of camera tricks and optics achieved a gory, satisfying death.
Speaking of death scenes, part 3 sports several of the most intense deaths in the entire series ranging from the second appearance of being impaled through the neck; this time by a spear gun and not a knife, the hand-standing stud who gets cut up the middle before the aformentioned spear gun impalement.
This entry I also believe set the standard rules for slashers, that even though set in stone are being challenged and hope to god changed by the contemporary horror film which is just some glorified rehash of something from last year.
