Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Zane E — 16 Oct 2008
Apart from the very unnessecary flashback scenes in the pre-credit sequence, this is a much better movie than the original. While Paramount had to come up with a follow-up very quick, this never feels like a cash-in.
A lot has to do with director Steve Miner who is a much better director than the original's Sean S. Cunningham. Friday the 13th part 2 is well paced and efficiently directed. It unfolds in slasher-blueprint fashion, with the slow build-up to the slaughter kept tense by Miner's direction.
My favourite entry in the series.
