Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Camden N — 21 Dec 2009
Superior to Friday the 13th in every way except one: it doesn't have any scene to equal the power of F13's final shock! They tried with the second-to-last scene of this one, but it didn't really work. Still, the film as a whole is so good it doesn't really matter.
Also, some murder sequences felt so abrupt that I can't help but wonder if this was cut to get an 'R' rating. I guess I'll find out when the new special edition comes out!
For those who are interested, a few key sequences from this film were ripped directly from Mario Bava's proto-slasher Twitch of the Death Nerve. They were executed much better in Bava's film,.
