Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Andrew P — 20 May 2010
Probably the worst in the entire series (yes, that includes "Jason X"), the movie is the sort of lazy retread we've seen over and over when a studio wants to cash in. And they must've made a mint with this movie because everything about it screams cheap.
You know the actors are going to be awful, but there's almost an absurdist's logic to how bad they are here. All of this could be overlooked if it succeeded on the gore factor, but here we're treated to a lot of "almosts" - where the blade is brought to the skin, then a quick cut to the next scene.
Even Jason himself is portrayed as a sort of bumbling idiot, falling off of stools and whatnot. And did I mention the non-ending where Jason jumps through a window and...that's it? Even completists have to admit this is awful stuff.
