Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Mike D — 31 Jul 2010
I will review these together because they are essentially the same movie. Friday the 13th 2, 3, and 4 all star a murdering psycho named Jason who likes to kill teenagers and townsfolk who get in his way.
These are very fun movies. You don't hate the bad guy. You are just interested in seeing how he dispatches the next superfluous teen. Will he use a machete, an axe, or an ice pick?
As the series goes on it gets gorier and better. The acting never improves, but Jason gets more ruthless. In part 2 he is kind of special ed. He is easily fooled and hurt. In parts 3 and 4 he grows as a killer. He trusts no one. His technique improves. This was a good idea on the part of the filmmakers. I would not have watched a second movie starring the retarded Jason. In 2 he wears a sack over his head. Tacky. In 3 he gets the trusty hockey mask, another good move.
I am looking forward to continuing the series. Yes, this is the first time that I have seen these movies. I had a sheltered childhood full of Police Academy.
