Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Alex B — 23 Nov 2012
It was pretty cliche even for its time, but it does offer a good dose of scares. Honestly, the thing that made me enjoy this movie was finding out that Jason didn't actually die, which was hinted at in the first movie.
If Jason actually came back to life in this, that would completely have ruined the franchise. And I've gotta admit, the whole thing with her pretending to be his mother was a bit silly, although you gotta give them points for creativity on that one.
I guess it could work if you had a mind as warped as Jason's. I know I'm being pretty forgiving on this film, but that's just because I thought it would've been a lot worse than it actually was.
Also, it's a slasher film. Even good ones are known to have plot holes and inconsistencies. All in all a decent flick, although it didn't add much to the genre. The jump scare at the end, though, was really well-done! It actually freaked me out! Also, it was nice to finally see Jason.
..in a movie that didn't outright suck!
