Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Lee B — 24 Sep 2010
I've seen all of these except the one in space. But I've seen almost all of them once and with a year or so of them coming out except these parts 1 and 2 which I saw after part 3. Yes, I saw Part 3 when I was about 8, but I had already seen The Shining so this wasn't scaring me.
I saw this on instant view Netflix and gave it a whirl again, and it is funny how perfectly this movie holds up to the structure of these movies. Of course, this is essentially the franchise that made the mold (not started the genre so please no comments) that many more copied.
From music to framing to the ramp up, it's all there as you would expect. This also makes it funny that the remake would follow this mold so closely. This movie isn't bad. Part 3 was worse. Part 5 was bad.
The NY one was really, really bad. This was pretty good. It's nothing genius, just good at what it is trying to do.
