Unquestionably the best in the series. A stronger film than the original in every way, it also introduces the character of Jason Voorhees as the antagonist which helps tremendously in making for a more terrifying and more believable film.
Steven Miner's direction takes what might have been a shameless rehash and turns it into a perfect sequel.
