Review of Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) by Luc L — 22 Oct 2010
This is one of the better directed sequels of the series. Then by first-time director Steve Miner (Halloween H:20, Forever Young, House) actually creates some suspense and atmosphere. Although it feels like a remake of the original at times but this one is better acted.
Steel is pretty good as the young heroine (I think, she is my favorite of the series) in the movie. Some memorable death sequences, some had to be cut down to get an R Rating. 45 seconds had to be cut down to get an R.
I have some complains with the movie, especially the ending. The script does have some questionable moments. The opening sequence uses a bit too much stock footage from the first one. Probably due of its short running time.
It has some flaws but I think, it is just as good as "Friday the 13th". Also the look of Jason is a tribute to the underrated crime horror film "The Town That Dreaded Sundown".
