Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by Sergio R — 02 Apr 2012
This is probably the most well made of the entire franchise but it is also one of the most inept at generating actual suspense. The new Jason was really good and I prefer this smaller and more athletic version of him than the increasingly larger and bulkier Jason that we started to get in the last half of the franchise.
This one is a convincing hunter and I had no qualms about him moving fast or running like a lot of fans did; I generally had a harder time accepting him being so good at catching his victims when he was hardly moving.
I also like that they had sack-face Jason before he finds his hockey mask because Friday the 13th Part II (before Jason got his goalie mask in part III and only wore a creepy burlap sack over his face) was always my favorite.
A decent reboot that could have been a lot better and offers very little in scares.
