Review of Friday the 13th (2009) by Brad S — 13 Nov 2011

I used to love these films when I was younger, but this one just didn't work for me. They went with the "realistic" approach for Jason this time out, and it was a little more horrific on the whole.

The "kills" are tough to watch as a result of the realistic approach, in the originals is was more superficial and you didn't take it too seriously, but now in accordance with the current trend in horror, you see a lot more of people suffering, and in a realistic manner, which I just don't get, I wanted to be scared, but not watch gruesome torture. Jason is scary and it's effective at times, just too violent for me I guess.
