Not that scary, many of the characters are either uninteresting or annoying and unlike alot of the other recent remakes doesn't add anything new to update the series (other than Jason briefly having some Norman bates like moments).

Basically you could label this a sequel and wouldn't make much of a difference. Even then it would be a okish film for guilty pleasure B-Movie standards.
